London is known for nothing if not its afternoon tea. So this summer during the London 2012 Games we made sure that we did as the Londoners do and included a proper tea in our Olympic Games.
Life of a Rock Star™ editor Nicole Hanratty was absolutely thrilled to be invited to a cooking demonstration put on by AGA and Visit Britain in the stunning gourmet cooking store Divertimenti in the heart of the finest shopping in town on Brompton Road. Divertimenti is the ultimate shop for foodies and also incorporates a Cookery School in the middle of an inspirational AGA showroom.
Divertimenti was started by Mike and Suzy Schneiderman who arrived in London in the 1960s and found "that despite the Swinging Sixties, London was still a culinary wasteland." (via Divertimenti About Us) They saw a need for better restaurants and an improved standard of cooking in homes as well. There was a limited availability of both ingredients and even some of the most basic equipment. Opening Divertimenti satisfied a need in the culture to bring necessary kitchenware to market for both restaurants and homes to raise the culinary output.

Today London is a mecca of fine dining and is a place for foodies to indulge. Currently there are two physical Divertimenti store locations--Marylebone High Street and Brompton Road--as well as a vast collection of AGA Cookshop British-made products, AGA cast iron cookware, AGA aluminum kettles, Victorian 'Brown Betty' design AGA hand-crafted ceramic teapots, C'est Ca! British-made aprons and gauntlets, AGA roasting tins and baking trays, cooking utensils, pots and pans, copper, hand decorated tableware, cutlery and glassware for sale online at the Divertimenti website.
Flavia Rowse, the chef leading the class demonstration with afternoon tea recipes, trained at Le Cordon Bleu. Her initial career path was interior design but she "soon found her long lived passions of food, wine and entertaining were getting in the way of the design world." She refocussed and began her new career path as a Le Cordon Bleu trained chef. (via Divertimenti Chef Bios)
Flavia shared four recipes during the cooking demonstration "Afternoon Tea" all the while entertaining those in attendance with her British humor and love for all things culinary. The outcome was a delicious worthy-of-a-Queen high tea which was enjoyed immensely by all.

Divertimenti and the AGA Cookshop make foodies want to delve right into their kitchen and whip up some new fantastic new recipes. And with endorsements like these, it's no wonder they have that affect:
"The AGA is the 'Rolls Royce of cooking stoves' and a good friend and helper in the kitchen." Martha Stewart
"When I came into the kitchen I thought, right, time for an AGA." Jamie Oliver
"I feel AGA has effortlessly blended the traditions of England with the ease of Californian Living…" Kathryn M Ireland
"Cooking with an AGA is fabulous and allows for little mistakes. And with an AGA, it is so easy to prepare dinner for 10 and still be around for your guests." Gérard Depardieu
