Calling all coupons! Just a few shopping hours left before your valuable coupons expire...from December, that is!
I just love the boutique clothing stores that issue ten percent of your spending coupons for use the following month. Not aware of this practice? Okay, for those of you who have been living on Mars, here’s an example. Let’s say in December you purchased a few gifts, a pair of jeans for yourself, (well who can resist a little “gift to moi” during the holidays?) and your total came to $500. The store would have issued you a $50 coupon for use in the following month of January. Brilliant isn’t it? M.frederic will even call you to remind you that you have the money to spend!
I always leave these little stores feeling like I have beat the system! Feeling like I got a discount or a reward for shopping there. The best part is, the more I spend the higher my reward!
So answer me this question then, please. Why do I repeatedly find myself facing the last day of the month still holding on to these little valuable jems?
I have been pondering my own possible explanations...
Could the answer be, as my husband has suggested, that my $50 coupon is really only a ploy to get me back into the store to spend yet another $500? Could my favorite little boutiques being trying to trick me? Say it isn’t so!
Or is it possibly because I simply don’t preferred to be pressured to shop within a certain time frame?
Hmmm... Maybe I just like to hold on to my little rewards like Certificates of Accomplishment!
Oh no! What if I have a deep-seated prejudice against coupons? Maybe if they printed CREDIT on them I would be more apt to cash them in?
I’m really not sure. But I do know that here it is again, January 31st and I am holding on to quite a few of these little puppies from more than one store. (I won’t disclose their real amounts to protect myself for fear that my adorable hubby may read this. He’s so supportive like that!)
Now, I’m sure I have left you wondering if I will I make it out today to reap my reward. And, if I do, will it cost me in the end? Or will I end up tossing them in the trash can tomorrow morning along with all the others that have come before and gone unused?
I will keep my schedule a mystery today, but you go out and spend spend spend! I’m mean really, where would the economy be without shoppers like us?
Au revoir for now... n
