Editor’s Note: This week @LifeofaRockStar has turned over the reigns to a guest blogger to choose the Song of the Week. We met @MamaMaryShow on Twitter and fell in love with her when we watched her funny video about turning 40. Knowing she’s a rock star blogger, we were pretty sure her choice of music would fall right in line with ours... Enjoy her Song of the Week!
Leave it to P!nk to come out with a song called Blow Me. If anyone thought for one second that having a kid might have softened her, they were dead wrong, and thankfully so. Her latest jam is as rockin’ and feisty as all of her pre-baby music, which is why I’m naming it the song of the week for my girl Nicole of Life of a Rock Star.
I have been a P!nk fan through all of her phases, the gummy pop Get This Party Started phase, to her pop hop Trouble phase, to her GUYS SUCK Who Knew phase to her hauntingly poetic Glitter In the Air phase.
There is something about all of her songs that make me want to either go on a long run or drink some booze and smoke a pack of cigarettes. In fact, I’ve specified on my bucket list that I not only want to go to a P!nk concert and meet her in person, but I also want to belly up to a bar with her and shoot the shit. Though I think I might be too much of a pansy for her. I’d have to lie about the fact that I was in a sorority and wore hot pink scrunchies on top of my head in the early 90’s. She’d probably want to punch me if she knew that.
The ways in which I love P!nk are endless, but here are just some of her attributes that I admire and aspire towards:
• She calls it like it is
• She admits her faults
• She doesn’t apologize for who she is
• She doesn’t give a shit what anyone thinks
• She has an unparalleled voice that is uniquely soft and strong, pretty and rough
• She has a kick ass, take no prisoners attitude towards love, life and any bullshit thrown her way
• And, have you seen those guns? Damn!
P!nk, if you’re reading this, I’m free any weekend and I know the fly spot where they’ve got the champagne. Call me. Or Blow Me. Whatever.
