Is it October yet? “Live to Rise” in the Marvel Avengers movie was the band’s first new song in 15 years and it has wet our appetite for more! Life of a Rock Star™ is anxiously awaiting the release of the new Soundgarden album set to be released this October, 2012.

(Live to Rise is on the Marvel Avengers Assemble album.)

“Live to Rise” peaked at number 4 and is sitting in the number 10 slot on the Billboards.com Rock Songs Chart. It’s been on the charts for 13 weeks and held the number 7 position last week.

VIA loudwire.com: “Soundgarden has roared back into the rock world with a vengeance. Not only will the band release a new album later this year, but the grunge goliaths recently hit fans with their first 100-percent new song in 16 years, ‘Live to Rise.’

Chris Cornell recently spoke about the upcoming disc with Seattle radio station KISW. ‘Some of the songs on our new album are pretty far left of center, and sort of zero in on more of a hardcore Soundgarden fan and not necessarily a family that goes to see a film like that,” says Cornell. “Although ['Live to Rise' is] not really what I think of as a necessarily family friendly song, but it’s as close as we’ve ever come.’”
