Song of the Week “Stubborn Love” by The Lumineers is Life of a Rock Star's new favorite hit. Sitting at No. 18 on Billboard's Rock Charts this toe-tapping song is headed nowhere but up. The lyrics, “it’s better to feel pain than nothing at all” are an excellent example of the band's ability to use music to draw an audience with truth. The Lumineers successfully walk the line between keeping their folk rock sound edgy and unique with lyrics that appeal to the masses.
The Lumineers are in the center of a whirlwind with their popular song "Ho Hey" still sitting on the Billboard.com U.S. Hot 100 charts at No. 27 after twenty (20) weeks on the charts and up from the No. 32 position last week. They've also recently announced that their new album has been licensed to Dualtone and are touring like mad and on a pace set to keep their success on an upward trajectory.
The folk indie band's album self-titled "The Lumineers" is a work of art. It’s currently holding the #3 spot on the Alternative Album Charts at Billboard hovering over albums from amazing bands like Mumford and Sons, Green Day, The Killers, Imagine Dragons, Muse, and fun. It includes “Ho Hey,” The Lumineers break out hit, which gained exposure originally from being played on the CW's Hart of Dixie television show.
The album also includes the song “Flapper Girl” which standouts for its ability to evoke emotion with a provocative sound. The folk alternative bluegrass music of The Lumineers in songs like "Slow It Down" is anything but simple and their album takes you on an emotional journey through their growth, pain and rebirth as they sing "we never looked back, that wasn't what we were good at…" and ends with the memorable line, "only love can dig you out of this."
“Dead Sea” is a highlight on the album and will have you singing along as if you are a member of The Lumineers. This sweet love / friendship song is replete with clever lyrics such as “the sweetest words you ever said to me…I was born to be your Dead Sea.” One can't help but relate the healing powers of the Dead Sea to seeing how for band members Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Fraites moving from New York to Denver after the death of Jeremiah's brother at the age of 19 must have been incredibly healing. It was in Denver that Wesley and Jeremiah placed the fated Craigslist ad for a cellist meeting the first respondent Neyla Pekarek and completing their band.
The acoustic folk sound of The Lumineers is contagious and their album is a stellar entrance onto what is certain to be an ever growing stage taking this band to new heights.

"Stubborn Love" by The Lumineers lyrics:
She'll lie and steal and cheat, and beg you from her knees
Make you thinks she means it this time
She'll tear a hole in you, the one you can't repair
But I still love her, I don't really care
When we were young, Oh Oh, we did enough
When it got cold, Ooh Ooh, we bundled up
I cant be told, Ah Ah It cant be done
It's better to feel pain, than nothing at all
The opposite of love's indifference
Pay attention now, I'm standing on your porch screaming out
And I wont leave until you come downstairs
So keep your head up, keep your love
keep your head up, my love [x2]
Keep your head up, keep your love
I don't blame ya dear for running like you did, all these years
I would do the same, your best believe
The highway signs say we're close, but I don't read those things anymore
I never trusted my own eyes
When we were young oh oh, we did enough
When it got cold, Ooh ooh we bundled up
I can't be told, Ah ah, can't be done
So keep your head up, keep your love
keep your head up, my love [x2]
keep your head up, keep your love

LONDON, UK- The Lumineers release self-titled debut album in the UK via Decca Records - out November 5th
Fresh out of Denver, The Lumineers have been subject of a fierce bidding war following their breakout success in the US. In August it was announced that Decca Records has licensed the forthcoming debut album from the independent Nashville-based label Dualtone.
The Lumineers have become a huge success story in the US, having sold over 150,000 copies of their debut album and 430,000 single downloads in less than four months through Dualtone.
The band are an enigmatic trio comprising of Brooklyn-to-Denver transplants Wesley Schultz, Jeremiah Fraites and Neyla Pekarek, and are currently at #1 on AAA radio in the US. The band’s incredible success has come through touring and word of mouth while interest from international labels was triggered after a breath-taking performance at this year’s SXSW festival.
The Lumineers have a spine tingling emotive sound that is both classic and genuine. They are a raw and unique band with flavours of folk, alternative rock, Americana and indie creating a rustic and spell-binding edge.
