@LifeofaRockStar
Life of a Rock Star™ staff worried they needed to have their eyes checked when they were browsing the Billboard Hot 100 Week of October 20, 2012 charts. Mumford and Sons. Mumford and Sons. Mumford and Sons. Mumford and Sons. Mumford and Sons. Mumford and Sons. Mumford and Sons. Did we say it SEVEN times? Because the Billboard.com sure did…

September 19, 2012
Download Smoke & Jackal “No Tell” on iTunes
Released August 28th, “No Tell” is Life of a Rock Star’s new obsession. Smoke and Jackal is a side project of Jared Followill from Kings of Leon, who reportedly needed something to keep himself occupied while his band was on a break from touring, and Nick Brown from Mona. With a very alternative rock sound this song’s disturbing lyrics and mesmerizing vocals keep you listening time and again. Read More...

Sun City on a Roller Coaster Ride

Interview by Nicole Hanratty
September 2, 2012
The two talented and very cute guys behind the Australian indie pop songs caught my ear when it came time to compile the Life of a Rock Star™ Back To School playlist. “Set Alight” (on the Sun City EP also titled “Set Alight” ) is the perfect blend of upbeat and forward motion dance music balanced with lyrics that are thought provoking and relatable. The song was an automatic add to the playlist and the EP has become a favorite.
This week I got the chance to interview Daniel and Tobias (Dan and Tobes). What unfolded made me smile and I think will make you smile too! These two guys have it all together. With their talent and great personalities they are headed towards enormous success. Read More...

Interview with the Band
August 15, 2012
By Nicole Hanratty
The Cold Summer "Wake" EP was released on iTunes August 6th, 2012 (which you can also listen to at the Cold Summer website). Play it through and you'll hear what I heard when I first listened. Something special is going with this post hardcore band. The music they are writing compels you to move in rhythm with the beat, their lyrics are full of thoughtful prose and yet this England based band has given a different voice to post hardcore punk. Best Intentions by
We Are The In Crowd
@LifeofaRockStar
We Are The In Crowd’s most recent album release “Best Intentions” is the Life of a Rock Star™ Album to Watch this week. With a few songs that lean toward a pop sound (All or Nothing, Kiss Me Again, On Your Own & You’ve Got It Made) this band is alternative, but on the light side. The Worst Thing About Me hits a great balance between the two music worlds with a dash of “angry” in the lyrics:
“I guess you were always the worst thing about me.
I can see that you’re not the real thing.
You keep me running back, running back -
This time it’s not ending well...
And if you want me now I’ll make your life a living hell.”

Gary Lightbody is head over heels in love with Fallen Empires
April/10/2012 01:03 PM

Fallen Empire
Gary Lightbody, frontman of Snow Patrol, is “head over heels in love” with Fallen Empires
(Interviewed by Wendy at Radio 104.5)
“We’ve always loved electronic music, you know I’ve dj’d electro...for 15 years you know with tom and the band, so I mean it’s always been part of our lives. ...It’s just recently that it’s become a bigger part of our music, it’s not the whole picture by any means, we haven’t turned into a dance band or anything ridiculous like that...the essence of Snow Patrol remains. Even in the dancier songs it’s still very much a Snow Patrol record but, ...there is more electronic signs pushed to the forefront rather than hiding in the shadows which, they’ve always been sort of banished to the shadows in the past.”
“There’s a couple of real barn stormin’ belters, classic kind of epic Snow Patrol songs. Listen to ‘Everything You Are’ and a song called ‘New York’ which are...as good of songs as we’ve ever written. I personally think. So I don’t think fans of the band are going to be let down by anything. In fact, I think they’re going to be over the moon. If I was a fan of our band I would love this record! I’m in this band and I adore this record! So I’ve never been able to speak about a record with so much confidence before because I am always slightly cagey about coming out as arrogant. But I am head over heels in love with this record and can’t possibly contain myself any longer! So, I’m afraid I am untethered.”
“It took six months from starting recording and that’s forgetting about the songwriting itself which was months before that. We’ve never made an album that took as long as this because we just decided that we would take our time and explore every possible sonic avenue and not be constrained to putting a deadline on it, which we always do. And then you know it’s like that clock ticking thing. You’re always aware that it needs to be done by a certain date and therefore that puts more pressure on you and this time around we took that pressure right off.”
