Wherever we land, LOAR shows up and makes a splash. This past weekend (Weekend One) of Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival was no different. While some of our team chose to camp at Coachella (and had a blast doing so), others of us checked into the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort and Spa in Palm Desert, California. Having packed up the 13 Must Have Things for Coachella, we were well on our way to having a fabulous weekend in Palm Springs.

Knowing we would want a little R&R, we booked a couple of rooms that would pamper our weary bodies at the end of a long hot Coachella festival day with comfortable beds and steamy hot showers. After a good night’s sleep, we threw on bikinis, found the gift shop and grabbed these fabulous sun hats (pictured above). Once we were snuggled in poolside, we ordered up our favorite combination of smoothies and french fries. The pool scene at the JW Marriott is famously hopping and no single girl goes unspoken to for long. Boys seem to find every available chance to start up a conversation and a few were even brave enough to ask for some of our coveted french fries. (Sorry boys, we don’t share fries. That’s a LOAR rule.)

Day 2 of Coachella Weekend One produced a sand storm of Wizard of Oz proportions that blew many festival attendees out of the venue–us inclusive. While missing Muse and Pharrell Williams was a devastating blow (pun intended) imbibing in cocktails in the hotel lobby bar with a bit of sushi to tide us over for the evening was a lovely consolation prize. The lounge is comfortable yet trendy and accommodating of private conversations as well as providing an open atmosphere to promote socializing.

The LOAR experience was made especially smooth by “Destiny” the front desk manager who made sure all of our needs were met. Special thanks to both her and her staff for adding to the rock star experience of our press coverage of Coachella. The hotel is a perfect location for Spring Break, a weekend getaway, Coachella music festival attendees and year round family travel. The rooms at the resort are clean, recently remodeled and many boast lovely balconies with a poolside center courtyard view which we highly recommend. A special bonus is the free wifi that was included (as it should be) in our daily room resort fee.
